Why powder coating
Together with our powder supplier AkzoNobel we tested many coating methods. Over 30 years Vlukon has developed its own pre-treatment and coating processes for a long rim life. Powder coating gives superior hardness, durability and corrosion protection, and a decorative finish. It emits zero or near-zero volatile organic compounds.
Process: degreasing, phosphating, washing, drying, powder application and oven curing. The powder sticks to the metal by electrostatic charge and melts in the oven into a tough, solid film. Result: long-lasting protection, even in acid and ammonia environments such as farms.

- Gas-heated oven, 32 m long, up to 195 °C, dwell time 32 minutes
- Standard paint thickness 100 to 140 microns
- Corrosion resistance tested to ISO 9227 and ASTM B117

Every week the line runs these base colours for wheel rims:
- Grey aluminium
- RAL 3002 carmine red
- RAL 9005 jet black
- RAL 9010 pure white
Special colours
We also coat in the colours below. Availability depends on the number of rims ordered, and a surcharge may apply. Other colours are possible on request; electro-galvanised rims are available on request. Screen colours differ from the real colour, so ask for a sample if you need to be sure.
